Palm Beach County Fire Rescue Announces Employee of the Year

Palm Beach County Fire Rescue will host an awards banquet to
honor employees that demonstrated exceptional service to the department and the
community.
This year, the department’s highest honors will be given to District Chief
Johnny Wright. Chief Wright began his career in the Juno Beach Fire District 33
years ago. He is currently assigned to the Special Operations Battalion in
charge of “C-Shift”.
Chief Wright is a founding member of the department’s Special Operations Team.
He is responsible for developing many departmental operating procedures used to
mitigate technical rescue incidents, vehicle accidents and hazardous materials
incidents. Chief Wright was also instrumental in developing procedures for fire
rescue’s Explosive Ordinance Disposal Assistance Team. Chief Wright is a veteran
fire instructor for the department’s recruit academy. He is a well known
nationally in the fire service and is considered an expert in industrial
Hazardous Materials. He has spent countless hours coordinating fire rescue
exhibits at the annual S. Florida Fair. He has dedicated his entire career to
keeping firefighters safe in their daily operation. Chief Wright will receive
the department’s “Employee of the Year” award.
